A Trinidad and Tobago provisional Under 20 men’s team will continue its preparations for the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Under 20 World qualifying matches with a warm up fixture against Joe Public at the Marvin Lee Stadium from 5pm tomorrow (Thursday).


The squad, currently under the helm of Michael McComie, has played three games so far, winning two against Valtrin United and a T&T U-17 team and losing to Joe Public’s Super  League outfit.

POSITIVE START TO NORTH AMERICAN COMBINE

Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation Technical Director Anton Corneal expressed a sense of optimism following Sunday’s combine for North American-based players at the Old Boys High Field ground in Brooklyn, New York.

Staged in conjunction with the Champs Soccer Academy and the Central Brooklyn Soccer Federation, a total of  eight players eligible of representing Trinidad and Tobago at the Under 17 level and thirteen  Under 12 players,  were present at the two-hour session which was witnessed by Corneal. This was Corneal’s first overseas scouting assignment since taking up the position of technical director earlier this year.

USA VICTORY ENDS T&T'S QUALIFYING HOPES

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 Women’s footballers will not be making a second successive appearance at the FIFA Under 17 women’s World Cup after losing their second match to the United States 5-0 on Saturday evening but will seek a winning end to their campaign when they face Bahamas on Sunday to close off their appearance at the final CONCACAF round in Guatemala City.

Needing to record a win against a United States team gunning to prove a point after failing to qualify for the 2010 Finals in Trinidad and Tobago, T&T showed a bit of grit but it was not enough to grind out a result. Mexico took the other semi-final round spot with a comfortable 6-0 win over Bahamas on Saturday's other encounter.

T&T GO DOWN IN U-17 OPENER TO MEXICO

GUATEMALA CITY - Mexico used goals from U.S.-based Hallie Hernandez and Luz Duarte to beat Trinidad & Tobago 2-0 on Thursday, keeping El Tri perfect against opponents other than the United States and Canada at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

It was the seventh win in 11 games for Mexico at the confederation finals, with its four losses coming against its North American neighbors.

The loss was the first in a competitive match in the 2012 cycle for Trinidad and Tobago, which won all seven of its Caribbean qualifiers by a combined 58-0.
