Kenwyne Jones suffered a broken wrist in Sunderland's 1-0 loss to Arsenal in their final Premier League match of the season on Sunday.
Sunderland manager Roy Keane said the striker could be out for six weeks but further tests will reveal exactly how long the big striker will be out for. He is in the T&T squad for the big June 1 international against England in Port of Spain and will definitely want to be eligible for selection.
Sunderland’s former Cork City forward Roy O’Donovan was given a second-half run-out after Jones was forced off at half-time with a broken wrist sustained when he took the full force of the ball, according to newspaper reports.
Keane confirmed: “Kenwyne chipped a bone in his wrist and he’ll be out for about six weeks. He was a big loss to us here and it’s disappointing, but we’re fortunate it has happened on the last day of the season when it doesn’t really matter.” For T&T it matters and the big man will be tipped to come through a speedy recovery.
