The journey to the World Cup in South Africa 2010 is not for the faint of heart and the TTFF's “warrior within” programme aptly conjures up the the kind of passion the Soca warriors need to see in their thousands of fans each time they go into battle during this qualifying campaign.
For TSTT, our unwavering financial and technical support for almost a decade is testimony of the confidence we have maintained in the ability of our local footballers to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best anywhere else in the world. Like the Soca Warriors,TSTT has never let size be an impediment to achieving its goals. Today we embrace and deliver technology solutions that are as sophisticated as anything found in the so-called developed world so we know that the Soca Warriors can accomplish whatever the team has set its sights on. Warriors are not afraid of having big dreams nor are they daunted by the hard work required to accomplish those dreams. They understand the importance of always working towards a goal so they do not let the fear of failure paralyse them. It speaks volumes for the team, the TTFF and the country that we are in such a strong position to appear in back-to-back World Cup championships. The Soca Warriors know that they carry the hopes of a nation on their shoulders when they take to the field, and this must magnify their joy when they do well and their grief when they do not live up to their own high standards. It's times like those that its reassuring to know that they have a cadre of die-hard supporters who will always rally to their aid.
Even as their campaign builds momentum we must congratulate the National under -20 team's successful campaign to qualify for the Under 20 World Cup later this year in Egypt. The country is reaping the benefit of the TTFF's solid development program which is further strengthening the international reputation for local football and footballers. TSTT is especially proud of this achievement in light of the holistic approach we took as a sponsor not only of the Soca Warriors but also of the development programs for the other national football teams. This, along with TSTT's contribution to the professional league is aimed at ensuring that the country will remain a strong contender for a berth in World Cup finals for many years to come.
Nonetheless, getting fans involved and keeping them enthusiastic over the duration of a campaign can be challenging. The “warriors within” program is an ambitious campaign that should go a long way to getting fans to connect with the team in a meaningful way so that wherever they may be in the world, the team will know that the spirit of T&T is with them. TSTT congratulates the TTFF for launching this ground-breaking initiative and we look forward to playing our part to ensure its success.
Thank you.
