TTFA PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES BRENT SANCHO ON SPORTS MINISTER APPOINTMENT

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association today offers warmest and sincere congratulations to Former National Footballer Mr. Brent Sancho on his appointment as Minister of Sport.




President of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, Mr. Raymond Tim Kee has issued the following statement.




“I have the great pleasure to convey my warmest congratulations to you, Honourable Mr Brent Sancho on your appointment as Minister of Sport of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

. I believe that, your great experience gained throughout almost two decades of active involvement in sport and moreso football, will contribute to strengthening the role of sport and good governance in our beloved country as well as the international stage.

"Between us, there are shared tasks, goals and challenges and I feel assured that we can work collectively for betterment in every regard. I look forward to establishing an amicable and good working relationship with you.

"I take this opportunity on behalf of myself and the local football fraternity to offer best wishes of good health, happiness and greater success in the fulfillment of your noble duty,” Tim Kee stated.




“As you are already aware, we have entered another important year for football as we approach the start of the 2018 World Cup qualification and the CONCACAF Gold Cup, two editions of FIFA’s biggest tournaments of which you represented us proudly. Once again, we intend to work towards achieving success in the international arena through our various national teams and we look forward to continued support from your Ministry.

HOWARD UNIVERSITY HUNTS FOR LOCAL FOOTBALL TALENT THIS WEEK

Howard University will hold screening sessions in this country from this Wednesday with the intention of offering scholarship to local talented footballers.

The initiative is one shared between Howard University and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association from which technical adviser Muhammad Isa will work along with the American University. Phillip Gyau, the head coach of the Howard University Soccer team will be here to oversee the sessions.

Gyau is a former US National Team forward and also a former captain and head coach of the US Beach Soccer team.  He  attended Howard University where he played on the men’s soccer team from 1982 to 1985. He was appointed head coach of Howard last year.

U-17 PLAYERS PASS MEDICAL TESTS AHEAD OF CONCACAF WORLD QUALIFIERS

Thirty members of the Trinidad and Tobago National Men’s Under 17 team underwent medical screenings last Tuesday at the Ato Boldon Stadium as they continue their build up to the CONCACAF Under 17 Championship and Final round of World Cup qualifiers in Honduras next month.

The  Healthnet/MyCard Sport medical team conducted a doctor’s fitness examination, blood pressure, body mass index, vision screening, fasting blood glucose, cholesterol, blood and iron count, ECG heart test and Spirometry lung capacity testing. All tests were conducted on-site using Healthnet’s Medical Mobile unit at the Couva venue.  This is all part of the relationship between Healthnet and the TTFA which started last August when Healthnet agreed to a deal worth over $3 million in the next four years to cover medical screening for all national teams.

UNDER 20 CAPTAIN SAYS HOPEFUL AHEAD OF FUTURE

Trinidad and Tobago Men’s Under 20 Team captain Shannon Gomez is still trying to pull himself together from the disappointing of this country’s failure in their quest to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Gomez and the rest of the returned home on Thursday night from Montego Bay where they lost their final group match, 1-0 to the United States, at the CONCACAF Under 20 Championship. The result meant T&T were booted out of the tournament with Panama qualifying for the World Cup and the US and Guatemala advancing to the playoffs.

Gomez made a call for the current bunch to be kept in training for future outings.
